I’m not much of a blogger; some prefer to post frequently, whereas I try to only post when I have the time, and when I feel strongly enough about something that I need to “get it off my chest”, as it were.
But I do check (somewhat frequently) for new comments that might be sitting in moderation.
Now, this site is using WordPress, a pretty good (and free) blog software package that has lots of useful extensions–including a spam filter for comments. This particular filter (don’t remember the name but it comes standard with 2.0) is good, because it will hold any suspicious comments in a queue, for me to approve. To date, I’ve gotten lots of comments with linkrot; usually the links lead to some sort of teenage pron, Viagra pills or some sort of refinancing thing. You know–the kind of crap you get in your Yahoo! or Hotmail accounts. Normally, I kind of snicker, laugh it off, and mark the comments as spam. Sometimes, just out of morbid curiosity, I’ll follow one of the links. It’s good for a small distraction and a shake of the head.
Lately, the pron links have taken, shall we say, a bit of a nastier turn than I would like.
I went to moderate the comments on the blog this morning and found 25 of them…and out of that 25, 21 or so was for “granny sex”. Granny sex? Are you kidding me? I’ve seen some nasty shit (Stile Project, anyone?) but to advertise granny sex is…just…wow.
Wow.
