  • It’s about trust. If you are unwilling to sign your name on something you post to the Internet, then you are just contributing to the increasing white noise that is the Interwebs(tm).

On program design and more.

As a developer, don’t become dogmatic about particular design styles.

A friend of mine pointed out this old chestnut, which I took the time this morning to re-read…as I read it again (I’ve read it several times), this statement jumped out at me:

“It is natural and helpful to develop your own style, but remember that design is an art, not a science. People who write books on the subject have a vested interest in making it seem scientific. Don’t become dogmatic about particular design styles.

(Emphasis mine.)

I would add “people who write on the topic, period”, given the proliferation of online writings.  But I don’t think I’ve heard a statement more accurate in a long time.
